Ovell Community Guidelines
Ovell works because people feel safe putting something honest into the well. These guidelines keep it that way.
Be kind, not clever
Replies exist to support someone who shared something vulnerable. A reply isn't the place for jokes at their expense, advice they didn't ask for, or "well actually." If you wouldn't want to receive it, don't send it.
Anonymity is a trust, not a loophole
You can post anonymously, and so can the people replying to you. That trust only works if nobody uses it to say things they'd never say with their name attached. We always know who authored what, even when other users don't.
Never ask for or share contact information
No phone numbers, emails, social handles, or "DM me on...", in a paper, a reply, or chat. It's filtered automatically, and repeated attempts can get your account banned.
If someone is struggling, point them to real help
If a paper or message suggests someone is in crisis, you'll see a link to find a helpline. Use it, encourage them to use it, and please don't try to be their only support, that's not fair to either of you, and we're not a substitute for real care.
Report, don't retaliate
If something crosses a line, report it (and block the person if you want). Don't escalate in replies or chat, that just hurts everyone involved and makes the queue harder to review fairly.
Zero tolerance for abuse
Harassment, hate speech, sexual content involving minors, spam, and self-harm glorification get removed and can result in an immediate, permanent ban, see our Terms of Use for the full content rules.
Thank you for taking care of this space. It only exists because people like you do.
